“I am living proof that the American Dream is one of the most beautiful opportunities in the world,” says Valentina Solomita, owner of American Centurion. “My parents were Italian immigrants who came to the U.S. with three children. They didn’t speak, read or write the English language. My life at a very young age was taking care of the needs in the household and becoming a voice for my parents, translating for them. I was handling financial responsibilities most children at such a young age couldn’t even fathom.” Solomita’s early responsibility for the family’s finances, she says, helped launch her into a career on Wall Street.
Quick Tip: “The workplace becomes a home for growth, success and a creative environment when you show respect for others.”
Solomita worked in senior positions at Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch, all the while building relationships with clients and nurturing a dream of owning her own firm. In 2011, that dream came true, and Solomita launched American Centurion, which provides wealth management and preservation services.
Solomita supports Long Island ABATE, a motorcycle organization that holds an annual run to support more than 20 local veterans’ organizations. “My hopes are to help them make it over 100 [organizations],” says Solomita.
