Taj Distributions was initially founded to sell international calling cards, but has since transformed into a general merchandising and wholesale organization. CEO Prabhjot Singh grew his company by including additional merchandise like feminine care, baby care, tobacco, hookah and cigar products.
Singh sees family businesses as the backbone of the nation’s economy, and as such, included his cousins in the company from its inception. Singh’s cousin Sukhdeep Singh Grewal serves as the company’s vice president of sales, while his other cousin, Raunak Patheja, is the company’s director.

Taj Distributions has eight core principles by which it functions, but the customer is paramount. Singh says that his team forms close relationships with all of its clients, and this has helped the company find success. As part of the company’s philosophy and culture, respect for all is key, and a structure of clear communication helps keep the gears turning.
Singh’s legacy is that of a man who started from nothing, and has become a successful businessman with his family members alongside him. Though the company currently encompasses only one generation, it has achieved success due to strong decision-making skills, and the ability to work hard. Today, Taj is looking to grow even more, potentially through acquisitions.
