“We want everyone to want to be at Carrot Creative,” says Mike Germano. And while Germano says it’s easy to make friends at work, he wants his employees to make family. In fact, the company even sits around a dinner table for Thanksgiving dinner. Carrot also offers family-like support in another way: When employees have personal projects, Carrot often invests resources to incubate those projects and help them grow. Several startups and products have come from this program. While Carrot has many cultural initiatives, it’s most proud of its committees. There are more than 30 after-work committees that help Carrot employees foster interests like astrology, beer brewing, concerts and books.
“Don’t confuse culture with community. Pingpong tables, free beer and parties are all things that may help community, but culture is a feeling. Carrot is lucky to have two co-founders and an executive team that invested so much into grafting the DNA of hustle, team and adventure onto every early Carrot employee.”
