At Fingerpaint Marketing, CFO Kira Karbocus does much more than just manage the company’s finances. For example, she also leads IT and human resources for all of Fingerpaint’s office locations. When Karbocus first joined the team, she was the first internal staff member to focus on finance, as the company had previously outsourced its accounting and finances to a CPA firm. During Karbocus’ tenure, she has helped Fingerpaint grow from about 40 employees to 130.
Fun Fact: Karbocus serves on the board of directors for Caffe Lena, the oldest continuously operating folk coffeehouse in the U.S.
In addition to her many other roles, Karbocus led the company through two acquisitions. Fingerpaint acquired an audio/video production studio in 2013 and, more recently, a PR firm. These two new verticals have helped the company continue its growth. Through this growth, Karbocus has had the challenge of maintaining a strong sense of culture. In response, she stresses the importance of hiring slowly and with intention, and of putting people first.
Through a partnership with Fingerpaint’s full-time philanthropist, Karbocus has helped build a culture of giving back. The company offers donations of both time and money, and selects several nonprofit projects each year as recipients of Fingerpaint’s marketing efforts. Outside the company, Karbocus is an avid equestrian with a passion for preventing the slaughter of retired thoroughbred horses through the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation.
