Maura FitzGerald and Jean Serra
Co-founders and Partners
Maura FitzGerald and Jean Serra founded Version 2.0 Communications to get back to their roots. The pair says the beauty of Version 2.0’s model is that it allows them to dive deeply into client programs, in an effort to help those clients tackle complex challenges and leave an impact on the people and organizations they work with. Another key to Version 2.0’s success has been the loyalty of its client base: 90 percent of the company’s business is driven by client experience and referrals.
Quick Tip: “Strive to surround yourself with great people, and look for mentors who believe in you.”
Both FitzGerald and Serra have forged their own path in business, and this has helped them foster a corporate environment in which employees are passionate about achieving personal and professional growth. The co-founders and partners say they are always thinking about how they can impart or extract their ideas to take a mentor-oriented approach to leadership. To that end, they encourage their teams to stretch their wings, try new methods of storytelling and test new theories for service offerings.
Version 2.0’s philanthropic work typically falls into three focus areas, including women in business, children and animals. The company takes on pro-bono work for a wide range of nonprofits in these areas. Most recently, FitzGerald and Serra have worked with organizations like the MSPCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay.
