Strategy and Management Services, Inc. (SAMS) strives to remain true to the foundation it was built on. When president and CEO Staci L. Redmon founded the company in 2008, banks had tightened up lending. Redmon decided to self-finance SAMS from her 401(k). Instead of immediately focusing on gaining SAMS’ first contract win and building business momentum, Redmon fostered the right relationships, identified the right networking channels and developed strategic partnerships. In fact, SAMS didn’t go after new business opportunities for the first year after its founding. Many of the connections established during that period of time are still strong, and have played a significant role in the company’s growth.

Under Redmon’s leadership, SAMS achieved a compound annual growth rate of 122 percent in 2015. One key component of this success has been hiring the right people.
