GROWTH CHAMPION: When Glenda MacMullin was hired as CFO at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), her goal was to strengthen the company’s financial reporting and controls. Over the years, she created a much bigger impact and took on new responsibilities, including IT, legal, HR, membership and office administration. Under her leadership, the company has grown significantly, and even was able to purchase and remodel new headquarters.

STRONG RELATIONSHIP: MacMullin has not only created a strong professional relationship with CTA’s CEO, but also a close personal friendship, she says. The pair have been able to collaborate on reinforcing CTA’s culture, and on actively pursuing its mission of growing the consumer technology industry. The relationship, says MacMullin, has been vital in building CTA’s “outstanding staff,” and has created a health-focused, family-friendly culture, as well as a strong business.

FUN FACT: “I trained for six months and then ran a half marathon to support a scholarship in memory of my brother. Also, I have lived in 11 different states.”

ABOVE AND BEYOND: Under MacMullin’s leadership, the CTA finance department has formed true partnerships with each of the company’s other departments. “We work directly with other internal departments to develop departmental budgets and then provide timely tools and guidance on how to manage the budget throughout the year,” says MacMullin. The team also implemented online budget tools and reports that have allowed managers to keep better track of budgets.
