A CULTURAL CORNERSTONE
The Mann Center for the Performing Arts’ wide array of cultural programming and popular events draws almost 200,000 visitors each summer session, and free educational and community engagement programs serve nearly 40,000 individuals each year. To strengthen The Mann’s position in the community’s cultural marketplace, president and CEO Catherine M. Cahill has undertaken strategies like investing in facility renovations, technology upgrades and other improvements, creating innovative programming and embracing digital media. These strategies and others have increased ticket sales by 52 percent, doubled total earned revenue and brought in younger audiences.
Quick Tip: “Manage risk and reward with an eye on innovation and sustainability, and remain competitive.”
As The Mann has grown and more people have turned up to experience its programming, the venue has worked diligently to maintain an extraordinary patron experience, says Cahill. Though the organization faced pressure in areas like parking, restrooms and concessions, The Mann has taken steps to learn and improve. Among these steps have been efforts to survey customer satisfaction after each performance, sending information to ticket buyers prior to performances, adding way-finding signage, creating additional concession points of sale, and installing two new video screens in the back of The Mann’s pavilion.
