When Advent Design Corporation was founded 30 years ago, its leaders were ready to burst through the starting gate and run all the way to an early retirement. Instead, they discovered a passion for manufacturing that has allowed them to grow and change for decades. Co-founders Thomas A. Lawton and William Chesterson have reinvented Advent more than a few times, and this has been its key to success over such a long tenure in the industry. Advent, which has been a product design firm, a consulting firm and a contract manufacturer in the past, now specializes in providing these services and more to the utility industry.

In 2003, Advent saw an opportunity to grow in the utility industry through the acquisition of The Eastern Specialty Company (TESCO). The acquisition complemented the work Advent had already been performing in the utility industry. Since then, Advent has branded all of its utility work under the TESCO name, and has put resources into product development. In fact, TESCO has become the dominant part of the company, driving double-digit growth for several years.
