OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES: “I look for opportunities to educate and help myself, but also what it is I can offer my team to grow in their own skills and life,” says Jennifer Sturman, VP of operations at Magic Memories Child Development Centers. “This has proven to be our key to success because we have [helped] our staff grow stronger, so that we have been able to grow the business, ultimately increasing value and savings.”
FUN FACT: “I started my own business, ‘Best Babysitter’ at age 11. I created a business card, an introductory letter and a price sheet.”
STRONG CULTURE: Magic Memories’ philosophy is based on family. “Being a home away from home and making the home-school connection is at the center of all we do,” says Sturman. Along with president Neydary Zambrano, she visits each school a few times a week. “This not only means that we are onsite, but what that means, specifically, is that we visit each classroom and say hello to each teacher, assistant, aide, child and family in the building. We ask about how they are doing and talk about things they are doing in their classrooms,” Sturman says.
DAY-TO-DAY BALANCE: For Sturman, success is all about the team. “My team will always challenge me and offer perspectives, and I feel having them as my tools in my toolbox allows me to achieve the balance of the day-to-day,” she says.
