SPIRIT OF INNOVATION: Michael Morton, CTO of Dell Boomi, has cultivated an environment where innovation is encouraged and protected. He pushes his teams to develop new ideas and, at the same time, helps protect their ideas by giving employees opportunities to create patents. The company benefits from forward-thinking solutions, and the employees feel motivated and appreciated for their hard work, he says.
FUN FACT: “My original career choice was to be an auto mechanic. Growing up, if you didn’t learn how to fix your own motorcycle or car, you had no transportation, so I taught myself all aspects of car maintenance and repair.”
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: “Dell Boomi’s competitive advantage is based on its continued industry leadership and innovation over the past 16 years, as well as its unique approach to its technology,” says Morton. “These have helped the company achieve milestones such as a customer renewal rate of 94 percent, well above the industry average of 90 percent.”
ABOVE AND BEYOND: Over the last year, under Morton’s leadership, Dell Boomi has earned three new patents, bringing the company’s total to five. The three new patents include one for a monitoring system that optimizes integrated business processes to workflow, and another for a healthcare service-integration software development system and method.
