When Morgan Hermand-Waiche, then a broke MBA student, was trying to buy lingerie as a birthday gift for his girlfriend, he realized that all the high-quality items were far beyond his budget and cheaper items were outdated. At the same time, the most fashionable items were only available to women of certain sizes. “It was time to shake up the lingerie industry, lower its prices, speed up its fashion and make it accessible to everybody,” says Hermand-Waiche. The resulting business, Adore Me, to date has raised $11.5 million and has more than 1 million Facebook followers.
Quick Tip: “A company is only as strong as its employees.”
Adore Me has a team of designers led by Helen Mears, former director of design at Victoria’s Secret, that crafts the company’s lingerie in-house, including bras, panties, swimwear, corsets, sleepwear and plus-size products. “With full control over the design process and materials, our lingerie items are better designed and higher quality than our competitors,” says Hermand-Waiche. “Adore Me believes every woman, at every wallet and dress size, deserves fashionable lingerie that makes her feel sexy, confident and beautiful. That’s why our styles range from petite to plus, from sizes 30A-44G.” Hermand-Waiche’s goal for Adore Me’s future is nothing less than complete disruption of the lingerie industry.
