Christine Gayron, LS
THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY
Gayron de Bruin Land Surveying and Engineering, PC (GdB) provides geospatial consulting services in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry to government and private clients. “The AEC industry took a big hit in 2008 to 2010, following the recession,” says Christine Gayron, president of GdB. The company Gayron worked for at the time was struggling, but she also noticed that government agencies were setting goals to give more work to minority- and women-owned businesses. “Even though starting and running a business would be hard, I saw this as an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Gayron says. She founded GdB along with her partner, Gregory de Bruin, and quickly began offering the new company’s services to entities that needed to fulfill diversity goals.
Quick Tip: “A great leader brings others up alongside them, communicates often and effectively, and exudes positivity.”
In leading GdB, Gayron has learned that “surrounding myself with employees who are motivated to be a part of this team and help the company succeed is most important, and they need to feel appreciated. I could not be a successful leader without a staff that supports and executes.” Over the next five years, Gayron wants to continue growing GdB locally, and to expand the firm’s services to include more civil engineering.
