“We work as a team, not a company. Our coworkers are teammates,” says Dewey Jenkins. “We move as one and leave no one behind.” Even as Morris-Jenkins has grown, the company has worked to maintain the heart of a small company. Back when it only had 20 employees, Morris-Jenkins started the tradition of monthly company-wide breakfast meetings. Managers and supervisors show up as early as 4 a.m. to start cooking, and employees often dress up to a theme. That’s just one of the perks of working at Morris-Jenkins, but Jenkins says it’s not all about the benefits. More important is the idea that the company functions as a family, sharing in each other’s successes and enjoying an empowering workplace that encourages personal creativity without the confines of micromanagement.
“If you break the culture, you break the company. Everything we do takes this into consideration. A strong culture can move mountains. A strong culture builds the ultimate team.”
