“The work that we do at [Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region] (HPCCR) can be emotionally challenging, so providing employees an environment of support, care and fun is essential,” says Pete Brunnick. To do this, the company has created initiatives like its “Bright Idea” program, which allows employees to contribute suggestions that are taken seriously and often implemented. Brunnick says the organization’s staff members work cohesively, and benefit from the ability to set their own schedules and arrange workdays around the occasional “life curveball.” To improve culture at HPCCR even more, the team created a wellness program that has become deeply ingrained among employees. Part of the success of HPCCR’s culture is that its core values are embraced and exemplified from the top down, starting with Brunnick.
