A CULTURE OF PERFORMANCE
R-PCI Construction specializes in general contracting and construction management. In that marketplace, the company’s key differentiator is adherence to a set of core values, says president John Ford. Those values include accountability, working hard for mutual success, doing the right thing and embracing a culture of performance. That culture of performance stretches all the way to the top: All managers have performance-based criteria included in their compensation, and each of them accepts responsibility for meeting a specific part of the company’s annual strategic plan.
Quick Tip: “Even when we win enough work to keep us busy in the near term, we need to push our success by also focusing on the long term.”
R-PCI has worked to expand its client base by analyzing potential future growth segments and hiring project managers and superintendents with the experience to handle a wider variety of jobs, says Ford. “Our effort in recent years to expand our portfolio into healthcare and assisted living clients has paid off well, as those industries are still expanding even in a tough construction environment,” he notes. At the same time, R-PCI has not neglected its primary target markets of bank and blue-chip clients. “We have really concentrated on increasing the depth of our relationships with our top existing clients,” says Ford.
