Idfive considers itself a marketing agency for “brands on a mission” — specifically in the areas of higher education, healthcare and nonprofit. “In the past few years, the work has poured in, challenging us to maintain our high standards for work-life balance, retain a strong company culture as the staff tripled, and decide where we wanted to go as a company,” says Andres Zapata, EVP, strategy and co-founder of idfive. However, idfive has met those challenges, he says. Employees haven’t been forced to work nights or weekends, and when they do put in a few hours after 5 p.m., the company reimburses them with dinner or a morning off.

Maintaining a strong company culture was also important to idfive as its staff grew. “With team breakfasts every Monday, an hour-long team lunch on Fridays and regular team outings and socials, we were able to quickly welcome newcomers,” says Zapata. “With an open, honest and team-oriented atmosphere, employees can work together to produce the best possible product, without the distraction of misguided competition or strained relationships.” Members of the leadership team at idfive set out a strategic growth plan for each employee that includes reimbursed education, company-wide learning sessions and internal promotions.
