When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed in 2010, Evolve Consulting Group, Inc. decided to embrace the comprehensive change it brought to the insurance industry. The company, which provides consulting on employee benefits and human resources, benefited tremendously from this attitude. COO Ronald Sroka Jr., for example, became an expert in the law’s provisions and compliance issues surrounding them.

As a result, the business saw significant growth during this tumultuous time for the industry. “Evolve Consulting Group has had consistent yearly growth of 20 to 30 percent since its inception,” says president Amy E. Ives. Evolve has lectured on ACA provisions for many top law and accounting firms in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area. Another key factor in the company’s success has been a number of connections within its industry and the larger business community, including a membership on the CareFirst Broker Council. Over the next five years, Evolve is hoping to sustain its current rate of growth. “I would like Evolve to be the most successful woman-owned employee benefits brokerage in Maryland,” Ives says.
