Diverse Concepts, Inc. specializes in computer forensics, secure wireless, messaging, systems engineering, help-desk services and more. “Our employees have been our major source of recruiting and customer satisfaction over the years,” says president and CEO Roy E. White. “When it came time to fill more positions for our staff augmentation contract, their outstanding work for the prime allowed our company [to appear] favorable in the customer’s eyes.” Diverse Concepts started a referral program that — compared to other subs on the contract — allowed a higher number of candidates to be interviewed and hired over a three-month period.

The biggest growth challenge for Diverse Concepts was providing the same level of benefits for all new employees. “The cost of these benefits made [them] a pain for our growth, but the smart planning by my CFO and management team made it easier to bear,” says White. In leading a fast-growth company, he also learned not to “get content with the current process. Keep pushing and remain humble, because things can change in the blink of an eye. You have to push to exceed your goals.” In the future, White plans to grow Diverse Concepts’ commercial revenue to equal or exceed its federal revenue, while also winning at least two prime contracts.
