Committing to wellness: “Employees who lead healthier lifestyles as a result of effective corporate wellness programs are better able to function under pressure, are less likely to succumb to illness or on-the-job stress, and ultimately produce better results for Ingenicomm, Inc. and the customers we support,” says president and CEO Amit Puri. This is especially important, he notes, because the company deals with technically demanding problems involved in manned spaceflight operations and interplanetary exploration.
FUN FACT: Whenever Ingenicomm employees need to speak with a physician, they can call into a 24/7 telehealth hotline.
Special perks: Ingenicomm’s wellness program is designed around an online “wellness engine.” When employees first activate the engine by going online or downloading the app, they complete a comprehensive lifestyle and medical questionnaire. Using this information, the wellness engine generates a customized action plan containing recommendations for diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes. The engine automatically adjusts the plan each week based on results entered by the employee. “The more engaged the employee becomes, the smarter the engine gets,” says Puri. Each employee’s information is securely stored in the cloud, allowing easy sharing with doctors and insurance providers.
Solid results: More than 90 percent of employees who use the wellness engine report improved eating habits, nutritional intake and overall diet, and more than 80 percent report improved mood, decreased job-related stress and higher morale.
