Committing to wellness: “Health and happiness go hand in hand, and we wanted to have employees who possessed both of these traits,” says Daniel Weiss, president and CEO of Chartwell Compliance. In addition, “Chartwell’s culture is very entrepreneurial, and we believe that people who hold themselves to a high standard will in turn provide that level of care to our clients.”
Special perks: Chartwell provides each employee with a 50-percent reimbursement on all medical plans (up to $300) annually, as well as a monthly allowance of $75 to be used toward gym memberships, swimming lessons, yoga classes or running shoes. Each employee is given 21 days off a year. Chartwell also provides an annual all-expenses-paid trip to a scenic location, as a way to promote team building and employee recognition. While Chartwell is headquartered in Bethesda, the company allows employees to work from home so they can spend more time with their families.
Solid results: Chartwell has yet to use metrics to track employee health. However, “we have doubled in size in the past year and almost 100 percent of our new hires are referrals from our own employees,” says Weiss. “We have hardly any turnover and receive an abundance of resumés every week. We can tell our employees are happy, and our open communication allows us to receive feedback and constantly improve.”
