Censeo Consulting Group, Inc.’s motto is that “values trump strategy.” “We believe that if you hire bright, considerate, ambitious people and provide them with a supportive environment in which they can do their best work, you will ultimately succeed over a company that sees employees and clients as just numbers, and does not treat its employees with dignity and respect,” says Raj Sharma, Censeo’s co-founder and CEO.
Words of Wisdom: “Never sacrifice your values in pursuit of business or a profit.”
Sharma dedicates much of his time to building partnerships and mentoring current and future leaders. He conducts internal “brown-bag” training sessions at Censeo on topics such as building genuine relationships and why good management practices matter, and he makes the effort to engage with staff at all levels. In addition, Sharma has paired up with like-minded individuals and companies to create thought leadership, bid on work or host events together.
One of the biggest successes has been the Public Spend Forum (PSF). In 2013, Sharma launched PSF, a company that promotes research and dialogue to improve public-sector procurement. This year, PSF launched a new website focused on training both industry vendors and government buyers, and creating a dialogue between the two groups. In the coming months, PSF will launch an exchange that connects government leaders and facilitates peer discussions.
