FOUNDING PRINCIPLES
Man-Machine Systems Assessment, Inc.’s (MSA) founding principles were to treat employees well, work on projects that enhance the well-being of the nation, and be profitable enough to take care of the surrounding communities. “The corporate values of the business are very much the values we adhere to as a family — honesty, integrity and respect,” says president and CEO Lily Harris.

ONBOARDING FAMILY
Due to the nature of MSA’s business, ensuring that staff meet and surpass expectations of quality is of the utmost importance. As a result, company leaders hold everyone, including family employees, to rigorous standards. All family members are required to be college graduates; MSA prefers when its employees are the best in their respective classes.

Fun Fact: Lilly Harris learned about addition and subtraction by balancing the family checkbook, and the first contract she ever created and negotiated was a plea to get a family dog.

CULTURAL VALUES
MSA prides itself on its family-oriented culture. For Harris, family means “a bond that unites us; together we are stronger than we are alone. We care for one another, and a growing family is a happy family. This simple view of family has translated into the way we run our business. We very much take pride in what we do, who we are, and the team that we have assembled.”

LASTING LEGACY
“Our family legacy has always been to leave the world a better place, and one of the ways we make this happen is by running a responsible company that is a great place to work,” Harris says.
