Family & Nursing Care

Neal Kursban
President

FOUNDING PRINCIPLES
Family & Nursing Care was founded in 1968 by Sandy Kursban. A close relationship with her grandparents growing up inspired her to dedicate her life to promoting the well-being of aging adults. Her vision was to give people the option of aging in place, in their homes, with the support of experienced caregivers who could assist with activities of daily life, provide companionship, and also offer skilled nursing care.

ONBOARDING FAMILY
When president Neal Kursban entered the family business in October 1995, he had a business degree and had been in a managerial role outside the family business for several years since graduating. Still, the first role he had at Family & Nursing Care was at the front desk, then in coordinating, accounting, intake, IT, and so on until finally, in 2008, he took over as president of the company. Both Neal and Sandy feel it is important to expose family members interested in learning about the business to as many facets as possible. Most recently, Neal’s son Brandon has helped out during school breaks in a number of administrative and support roles.

Fun Fact: Including the Kursban family, about one third of all employees at the company are related to at least one other employee.

CULTURAL VALUES
Although Family & Nursing Care is a family-owned business, the Kursbans have forged a culture that moves beyond their own family tree. The company seeks to promote a cohesive, supportive, trusting and professional work environment where everyone feels valued and rewarded for their contributions.

LASTING LEGACY
A large part of Family & Nursing Care’s legacy is the Family & Nursing Care Foundation and the company’s guiding principle of giving back to the community. Family & Nursing Care has partnered with and been a sponsor for many Montgomery County initiatives, and has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to area nonprofits.
