Harmony Crew offers expertise and services in culture, employee engagement, leadership development and strategic branding. CEO Jenny Young invited Kathy Cox to join the company in 2011, specifically to develop its leadership and culture services. “In my five years with the firm, I have played an instrumental role in expanding our services and offerings, client development, crew recruitment and retention, and increased awareness of the company in the region,” says Cox.
Quick Tip: “We not only teach [servant leadership], but also practice it daily in our company, with our crew, clients and associates.”
Cox has more than 20 years of experience in building, managing and developing organizations. “Over my career, I have created several entrepreneurial ventures, which, among other engagements, delivered recruiting support for LivingSocial,” she says. “Early on, I was mentored and encouraged by a variety of entrepreneurs and women executives, beginning with my parents, who were both entrepreneurs. Because of these positive experiences, it has been natural for me to extend a helping hand to others so they may also succeed.” Throughout her career, Cox has mentored women and young professionals by providing internships and strategic introductions.
Prior to joining Harmony Crew, Cox had a long career of professional service with a variety of nonprofit organizations, including eight years as executive director of the Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena (FDIA), which serves more than 10,000 DC-area children each year with skating and educational programs. “FDIA continues today as one of the most successful youth nonprofits in Ward 7,” she says.
