Since 2004, C.Fox Communications has been working to build public awareness and action in support of some of the country’s most pressing social issues. “C.Fox gives voice to real people who often go unheard, amplifying their stories for positive change,” says president Carrie Fox. “We’ve built a client base of organizations that all hold to a common theme of doing good, for the good of others.”
Fun Fact: In 2012, Fox co-founded Community Profits Montgomery with the publisher of Bethesda Magazine to spotlight businesses that are committed to philanthropic giving and inspire others to do the same.
The nature of the PR business requires those working in it to be “on” all the time, says Fox: “If boundaries aren’t set, work becomes life.” Some years ago, Fox was working with a client who would regularly send emails in the evening, and sometimes in the middle of the night. As a result of this experience, she took steps to protect and preserve her staff members’ lives outside the business. In fact, she now counsels other organizations on how to embed a culture of work-life balance into their business.
In 2010, Fox launched an agency-wide sabbatical policy. It allows employees to tap into an additional 40 hours of paid leave to volunteer in the community.
