When Linda’s Stuff CEO Linda Lightman founded her company, the core value was to connect with her target audience unlike any other consignment store. Lightman says she wanted to take her passion for fashion and eye for trends, and put them to good use. “At the time we didn’t realize it, but we were democratizing designer fashions and bringing [them] to a much wider audience. We were giving people the opportunity to buy that handbag they saw a celebrity carrying, or a dress by a designer they’d only read about.”
Since founding Linda’s Stuff, Lightman’s husband and son have both joined the team. She expects family members to wear all hats, just as she did when the company started.
Fun Fact: Linda’s Stuff started in Lightman’s 3,200-square-foot house, and she was reluctant to move it out.
Lightman works to create a balance between an informal work environment and a formal infrastructure. This means that while she is very focused on engaging employees on a personal level and building relationships, she also recognizes the importance of clear job responsibilities, training and hierarchy.
Lightman wants to leave behind a legacy of innovation, but with the understanding that such innovation was the result of persistence, long hours and meaningful interactions. Through her work, Lightman has focused on building a reputation of trust and integrity.
