President and CEO
When Skip and Annette Emerson first established Emerson Group, many others in the staffing, recruiting and consulting industry told them that it was impossible to be both honest and successful in business. The pair decided to prove those people wrong. “These values of honesty, integrity, fairness, respect and genuine care for others, and [a] personal touch, were always present and paramount to every decision and action we have ever taken,” says president and CEO Bill Emerson.
Though Emerson Group has given family members the opportunity to learn on the job, it has a new plan for any future generations that want to join the company. Emerson plans to require prior work, and any interested family members will start in an entry-level position and get experience in many different jobs so they can find their niche.
Quick Tip: “Create an accountability system between all family members and stick to it.”
Implementing Emerson Group’s core values starts with hiring the right people. “A person can have all the skills in the world, but if they don’t genuinely believe in the way we operate and treat clients, they are not a good fit for our organization. We have established a set of 20 core behaviors that guide our everyday actions,” says Emerson.
Legacy and impact are major factors that drive Emerson Group. The company strives to be known as a business that is successful because it does things the right way, with integrity, honesty and care for others. “We want Emerson Group to be remembered as an organization that helped thousands of people and families lead a better life,” says Emerson.
