Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians

Peter Gonzales
President and CEO

The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians was created to accelerate immigrant integration and economic advancement. To do this, the Welcoming Center connects immigrants in Philadelphia with economic opportunities, including finding them a first job, helping them restart their career or helping them launch a new company. In addition, the organization provides ESL classes, job training and business workshops. Through its recently launched program, Philly iHub with Mt. Airy USA, the Welcoming Center is also helping incubate immigrant entrepreneurship.

Quick Tip: “Find good mentors who will both challenge and nurture you, and build a diverse teamof talented people who inspire you.”

Welcoming Center is embarking on a larger effort to engage the public and private sector in developing a blueprint for immigrant integration over the next 10 years. The ultimate goal of this effort is to help meet unmet demands for workers. “Immigrants bring the skills, experience and drive that can help fill those gaps,” says president and CEO Peter Gonzales. “They also bring new perspectives on how to solve problems, and the entrepreneurial energy to create new jobs.”
