Luis E. Torrado
Luis E. Torrado, president of Torrado Construction Co., Inc., points to the company’s 20 successful years in business as a clear measure of success. Over those 20 years, Torrado Construction has grown significantly, and Torrado is proud of the fact that his company has given many people steady jobs and the ability to make an impact. That impact often comes in the form of major projects in Philadelphia, such as the redesign of Dilworth Plaza and the Comcast Innovation and Technology Center, also known as Comcast Two. Currently, Torrado Construction is working on the Taller Puertorriqueño Cultural Center in North Philadelphia, which is set to add a pop of color and make a significant impact in the impoverished area.
Quick Tip: “Get it done, and done right.”
As a minority-owned firm, Torrado says, the company has had to work a lot harder than some of its peers, despite equal-opportunity programs. But today, Torrado says his company is thriving. “I think we’re in the forefront as far as a minority contractor in the Philadelphia area,” he says. “I think we’ve strategically put ourselves out there in the top realm of the go-to firm for that type of work, for minority growth, and I’m pretty proud of that.” Much of that success is due to Torrado Construction’s dedication to service. “We do what we say we’re going to do — we complete the projects. Are there challenges? Sure, but we always get through our challenges,” says Torrado.
