Supreme Safety Inc. provides industrial and environmental safety supplies and equipment for industries that follow OSHA guidelines. President Annette Patchell says the company faced some of its greatest challenges when it was called to action to help with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and BP’s 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. “The need for supplies was so great,” says Patchell. “However, we were able to meet the need by getting them everything they needed within 24 hours.” In addition to taking on projects that have a significant impact, Supreme Safety sets itself apart through its status as a WME supplier. This allows Supreme Safety to supply companies who institute the use of minority or diversified distributors, and helps it compete with larger companies by partnering with other diverse, small businesses.
Quick Tip: “There are only three things an entrepreneur needs to know: honesty, patience, benevolence.”
Patchell leads her company by ensuring that everyone remains informed about industry trends and developments. Doing this, she says, ensures that clients learn they can trust Supreme Safety’s judgment. To stay up to date, the business makes use of social media and technology, but Patchell says there is no real substitute for interacting with a live person. “This personal contact is the glue that secures the strong bond between us and our customers,” she says.
