Custom Mobile Food Equipment, a family business that creates vehicles like kitchen vans, catering trucks and kiosks, has always based its success on whether customers return, says VP David Kyle. As the leading manufacturer in the industry, the company takes pride in its reputation, and the fact that it has grown over the last several years to cater to clients like The Walt Disney Company, Aramark Group and the Salvation Army. Custom has found success by positioning itself to be as diversified as possible. Not only was it the first business in the industry to develop catering trucks, but it has also added to its product line to continuously remain relevant. In the last year alone, Custom created two different product lines that Kyle says have driven the market in a new and exciting direction.
Quick Tip: “It’s not how you handle the good times; it’s how you successfully handle the bad and learn from them.”
As a family-run business, Custom works hard to treat employees like family. “As an employer, we want employees to feel as if they are accomplishing something bigger every day, and to take pride in this company that they have helped create,” says Kyle. This focus on giving back extends outside the company as well. That’s why Custom works to help the community in any way possible, shipping pieces of food equipment to organizations overseas that offer hot meals to children in need, and creating special equipment for the local police department.
