EMSDC is also a certifying agency for these kinds of businesses.

“By facilitating the inclusion of diverse businesses in the corporate supply chain, we are directly giving those businesses an opportunity to create wealth and jobs, thereby improving the quality of life for families and the overall health of communities,” says Valarie Cofield, president and CEO of EMSDC. “Diverse, women-owned businesses are the fastest-growing group of small businesses in the U.S. To have an organization like EMSDC that is focused on connecting those businesses … with the opportunities in the corporate-procurement supply chain is critical and impactful.”
The nonprofit is currently in the planning stage of The Entrepreneur Collaborative, a pilot program that will be an accelerator for mid-sized businesses. “There are a lot of programs in the marketplace that are focused on emerging businesses,” says Cofield. “However, the businesses whose gross revenues are $3 million to $5 million or greater are being underserved or not served at all in terms of development opportunities.” The Entrepreneur Collaborative’s focus is on that targeted group of companies.
