When Heyward Donigan joined Vitals, it was transitioning from a startup to a scalable enterprise, and its culture was in flux. That’s why she created a mission, vision and values that all employees could get behind. From corporate goals to personal goals, Donigan made sure employees had something to work toward. To reward that hard work, Vitals formed its FEVER (Fun Events, Volunteerism, Eating and Recreation) committee to plan activities like movie nights, baseball outings, bowling tournaments and summer BBQs. Additionally, each employee gets a free gym membership and access to hot yoga classes. Employees can be found enjoying a game of pick-up basketball or racquetball at lunch time, and once they return to the office, Vitals ensures they have an open, communicative environment in which relationship building and breaking down silos are encouraged.
“Almost one third of our workforce works remotely at least part of the time. We’ve helped our employees move states to take care of aging parents or support a spouse’s career.”
