“Our culture is first and foremost predicated on the fact that we are an ‘international collective of big-agency refugees,’” says Bryan J. Meszaros. He notes that while other digital-experience design agencies work out of a warehouse with dogs running around and beer on tap, OpenEye Global doesn’t fit that mold. “We are travelers. We are experiencers. We are digital nomads. And it is with this mentality that we promote the fact that we do not have an office and can work from anywhere in the world,” he says. For the 11 employees of OpenEye, this creates an emotional and physical connection to the trade. Though at any given time, employees could be in more than 10 different cities, two continents and two countries, they all come together each November for a retreat in a different city to explore and celebrate together.
“Too many companies try to model themselves after someone else, and in most cases they fail because it’s not who they are. We are fine with being different. The culture we’ve created is based on things we like to do and how we feel most comfortable operating.”
