Founder and CEO
“Before starting The Devon Group, I directed marketing at a publicly held Boston-based IT networking vendor, where I created the marketing department from the ground floor up and led the brand vision and articulation that helped position the company for its successful acquisition,” says Jeanne Achille, founder and CEO of The Devon Group. “In the early 1990s, I saw the opportunity to do public relations better than it was being done at the time.” Achille established her business by drawing on industry knowledge and existing connections.
Fun Fact: The Devon Group offers its services pro bono to charitable causes, including the HR Gives Back “virtual marathon,” which raised funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
“The Devon Group started as a high-tech PR firm at a time when there were no women in tech,” says Achille. “Sadly, there aren’t many more women in tech now, 20 years later.” The Devon Group has since expanded to serve other niche areas, such as finance and HR, but Achille’s ultimate vision is to revisit the original focus on technology.
Like many CEOs, Achille has found the search for talent to be her biggest challenge. “Of course, it doesn’t stop there — you need to nurture them, make sure they have the appropriate incentives, and train them on how to be leaders,” she says.
