Alure Home Improvements has quarterly company meetings where Sal Ferro updates all employees on the state of the company. The meeting also features the presentation of various awards to recognize employees for bringing in referrals and submitting ideas to improve customer service, among other things. Each year, Alure holds a Halloween costume competition as well as a holiday ugly sweater contest, “both of which acknowledge creativity and whimsy on the part of the employee,” says Ferro. Alure also has a customer rewards program where clients can earn a trip for two to the Caribbean after spending or referring a certain amount of business, and Alure employees can also earn this trip by bringing in their own networking business. The employees and customers who earn the trip each year take it together.
“If you don’t show that you care about your employees, then you can’t realistically expect them to care about your customers.”
