Family Service League, Inc. (FSL) is a community-based human service agency that helps troubled adults and children, offering more than 60 programs ranging from behavioral health support services to early childhood education. As president and CEO, Karen Boorshtein focuses on entering into alliances with other community-based organizations, as a way to make it easier for individuals in need to access services.
Fun Fact: In 2015, FSL hosted a fundraiser for 500 guests that featured tours of five unique private homes, along with lunch and raffles at a North Shore restaurant.
In 2014, Boorshtein led the charge on opening a family center on the William Floyd School District campus. That facility provides numerous services to residents in the Shirley, Mastic and surrounding communities. FSL has also formed a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area to offer family support and a mental health clinic to area residents.
Another accomplishment was the completion of the Iovino South Shore Family Center, a multi-million dollar, 44,000-square-foot location on Long Island’s South Shore. That facility houses more than 20 programs and services, including behavioral health services, primary care, an early education center, and a food pantry.
