DONE DEAL: In October 2015, Continental Advisory Services, LLC engaged EIA, Inc., a family-owned business specializing in data, tech, access control, electrical construction and engineering. The collaboration was designed to help Continental Advisory enhance its engineering capabilities. “In the field of engineering and construction, the more … expertise you can provide, the more opportunities you have,” says Jacob H. Yahiayan, founding member of Continental Advisory.
Quick Tip: “Listen to clients carefully.”
BIG IMPACT: Continental Advisory used a memorandum of understanding to partner EIA with several of its associated companies, including Clough Harbor Associates, an Albany, NY-based company of about 1,600 engineers. “By wrapping these companies around EIA through our memorandum-of-understanding arrangements, we created what we call an engineering-construction value chain,” says Yahiayan. “This allows us to have better opportunities not only in the tri-state area, but nationally across industry lines.” The collaboration has allowed Continental Advisory to launch new technologies, such as a prototype that would automatically shut down oncoming railcars whenever a public-transit passenger falls off a station platform.
