Pamela C. Smith
Marketing Director and Co-owner
Pamela C. Smith came to Morrison Smith Jewelers Inc. after 20 years in the corporate world. “My husband and I purchased the store in 2004 from his parents, so he had been running the store for two years when I quit my job and started working with him,” she says. As part of leading a family business, Smith wears many hats. She oversees the store’s marketing and creates all ads. She also helps with product buying and the design of custom pieces. She is the backup machine engraver and for many years served as Morrison Smith Jewelers’ bookkeeper. “I think any of my employees would attest that I do a lot,” she says.
Quick Tip: “Be true to yourself, and never stray from your core values and ideals just to get ahead or make an extra dollar.”
Smith still benefits from the values and work ethic her parents instilled in her from a young age, she says: “They raised me to be kind and to care about others.” In addition, Smith draws inspiration from her grandmother. “She worked until she was 85 and was loved by everyone she touched, including me. She never complained about anything and did what made her happy.”
In leading Morrison Smith Jewelers, Smith embraces a hands-on style. “I would not ask one of my employees to do something I would not be willing to do myself,” she says. “My husband and I value our employees and show them the respect they deserve.” Outside work, Smith serves on the board of directors for Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend, which raises money for children’s charities, and is a member of the American Heart Association’s Circle of Red.
