President and CEO
Fran Dichner, president and CEO of R&L Associates, says her background drives her to be successful and make a difference. Dichner spent the first years of her life in an orphanage in Greece. When she was just four years old, she was able to come to the U.S. and start upon a path that would lead her to become an established business owner and CEO. This journey taught her the importance of giving back, including through her work at R&L. “The vision I had was to have a company that made a difference in the lives of others and in the community,” she says.
Quick Tip: “Stay true to yourself and your vision. Be willing to take chances.”
Dichner’s journey with R&L has also been a challenging one at times. She was forced to overcome obstacles such as gaining back control of the company, buying out a partner, almost closing during the recession and even battling chronic Lyme disease. Just recently, R&L decided to eliminate its senior management team to change the company’s direction. All of these challenges have taught Dichner an important lesson: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Today, the company’s ability to survive has given it a competitive edge in the marketplace.
As part of her mission to make the world a better place, Dichner created an internal mentorship program that allows her to guide female employees. She also has the opportunity to work with at-risk young girls through the Girls Inc. program.
