Owner and CEO
Visual Connections LLC has experienced tremendous growth. “A lot of that success is primarily tied to the type of people that we’ve been able to bring to the company — between their experience and their relationships, we’ve been able to grow,” says owner and CEO Frederick Deese. The company also has benefited from the government’s ongoing commitment to working with service-disabled veteran-owned businesses.
Quick Tip: “If you’re going to call yourself an entrepreneur, make sure that everyone around you — your family, your kids, your wife, your husband or significant other — is informed on the voyage that you all are going to take.”
In keeping Visual Connections growing, Deese allows employees to contribute as much as possible. “I’m constantly training and challenging my employees on the contracts to look for those other inside sales opportunities, where you might hear something from the customer that’s outside of our contract,” he says. “It may be a complaint about another contract. Or it could be an idea the customer has that we may be able to help out with.” If the company ends up pursuing the opportunity, employees may be incentivized with a bonus.
