Founder, President and CEO
Symphony Placements is a woman-owned flexible staffing company. Since 2011, the company has seen significant growth, including this year, which is projected to see a 30-percent growth rate. In 2015, Symphony Placements responded to client demand by creating a new division for IT positions. “This department will be our growth mode,” says founder, president and CEO Wanda Smith. In addition to her leadership role at Symphony Placements, Smith is involved in a number of boards and community associations.
Quick Tip: “Show up, be prepared, ask questions and be willing to take the good with the bad in new job experiences.”
Symphony Placements’ success has been driven to some extent by investments in database and recruiting software from the outset. “Change is the only constant, and if our team is not embracing technology and using it smartly to benefit our clients’ bottom line, … it will be impossible to stay relevant,” says Smith. The company’s marketing and customer-service systems are fully automated, and virtual time clocks and software were added for Symphony Placements’ large call-center clients in 2013. However, that emphasis on embracing the latest technology doesn’t mean the company neglects the importance of in-person interactions. Smith continues to meet face-to-face with clients and visit their sites to see Symphony Placements’ temporary staff in action.
