Arenal Fitness is a 24/7-access, 5,000-square-foot functional training facility that offers a variety of CrossFit group classes and personal training options, focusing on exercises that help members function better in their everyday lives. “Why go to a gym and spend countless hours performing arm curls and leg extensions, which will never help you pick your child up off the floor or easily get out of a chair? What makes Arenal unique is our members’ strong sense of community, with an encouraging, fun and friendly environment that provides support and camaraderie both in and outside the gym,” says Lauren Bunney, co-owner of Arenal Fitness.
Fun Fact: Bunney is a ski patrol leader with the Wisp Ski Patrol. She runs the Outdoor Emergency Care online and classroom course for the National Ski Patrol for the Western Appalachian Region.
Arenal Fitness has members from seven to 97 years old. A background in post-rehab helps the company’s staff teach members how to “train to live.” “We can help them move in better biomechanical form [so they can] live life more efficiently and effectively,” Bunney says. “Our members are pushed out of their comfort zones, and they accomplish things they never thought possible.”
Arenal Fitness supports organizations including the Casey Cares Foundation, Summit Park Elementary School, Mount Washington Elementary School, St. Paul’s School, Meals On Wheels, Wounded Warrior Project, Habitat For Humanity and many more. “We donate our programs and services to help raise money for the organizations via auctions and raffles at their events,” says Bunney.
