Catherine Purple Cherry
Three factors make Catherine Purple Cherry the person she is today: her passion for design and architecture, her commitment to helping others through her faith, and her dedication as a mother of a child on the autism spectrum. “The greatest personal challenge was raising my special son through adolescence, while protecting my two younger children from the trauma of events, all while building a company,” she says. The experience has taught her patience, flexibility and determination.
Quick Tip: “I find it a privilege to be able to involve myself in organizations whose causes I firmly stand behind. I try to teach my team the importance of this as well.”
Purple Cherry Architects specializes in custom, luxury residential projects. In addition to her residential work, Purple Cherry leads Purposeful Architecture, which strives to design living and learning environments for the special-needs population that allow them to feel safe and motivated to engage.
Purple Cherry serves on the National Autism Society board and personally supports the Hospice of the Chesapeake, the Ronald McDonald House, the Wellness House, Arundel Lodge, Opportunity Builders and Benedictine School. “It is vital for us to not only serve our clients wholeheartedly, but also the community,” she says.
